Rightly said in the context, as the easiest way to grow up the ladder is by making people working under you grow. Keep working upon teaching and mentoring people that they get prepared for the next position. As they are ready that means you are no more required there, so you can move up the ladder or take upon another assignments along with your present one. For this a leader had to set in example in such a fashion as to give way for others to follow. For that you have to be one whom people will love to follow or replicate. Once you have prepared your successor, you can move on to higher things in the corporate ladder. Keep looking for opportunities to teach the people working for you to do things better, become perfect in the present role and prepare for the next position.
